My Dearest Sister Deborah,

This evening, the 18th anniversary of the passing of our father, finds me in camp with my brothers in arms in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. Hundreds of campfires dot the rolling field beneath a harvest moon in a near cloudless sky.

The fellowship amongst the thousands of men, boys and ladies in the camp in this beautiful place makes us one large family, all willing to lend a hand or share  a smile or a story.

As the camp fills throughout the weekend we are reminded of the sacrifices being made by those in harms way in defense of freedom as well as those who offer their support to the cause. May Gods grace fall upon them and their families for their commitment to duty.

Until we may meet again,

your brother Jim
